On occasion, the constant dreary downpour from the Seattle skies starts to get me down. When that happens I look for things to bring a little sunshine to my life. Here are some of the things I’ve found and loved lately.
This rendition of the star wars theme that makes me grin every time I hear it (and the fact that I’m seeing The Force Awakens TONIGHT!)
This quote from John Muir that reminds me that distance can’t touch my friendships with the people I love
This Song by John Paul White that manages to break my heart then soothe it all at once
And this poem by Wendell Berry that gives me a new hope about the future every time I read it
The Peace of Wild Things
When despair for the world grows in me
and I wake in the night at the least sound
in fear of what my life and my children’s lives may be,
I go and lie down where the wood drake
rests in his beauty on the water, and the great heron feeds.
I come into the peace of wild things
who do not tax their lives with forethought
of grief. I come into the presence of still water.
And I feel above me the day-blind stars
waiting with their light. For a time
I rest in the grace of the world, and am free.
and all the little things, like this star wars lego set I got from a gift exchange last night, and built this morning. tiny toy, huge joy.
